When to double with three or more cards

With three cards in your hand, the chart below doubles in these cells (6 decks, dealer hits soft 17). In the chart, a cell like H/D3 means hit with two cards, double from three cards on.

  • Hard 9 against 3–6
  • Hard 10 against 2–9
  • Hard 11 against 2–A
  • Soft 13 (A,2 and more cards) against 6
  • Soft 14 (A,3 and more cards) against 5–6
  • Soft 15 (A,4 and more cards) against 5–6
  • Soft 16 (A,5 and more cards) against 4–6
  • Soft 17 (A,6 and more cards) against 3–6
  • Soft 18 (A,7 and more cards) against 3–6
  • Soft 19 (A,8 and more cards) against 6

The extra doubles lower the house edge, but they also put more money on the table in each of those hands.
