Rules of this table
Free Bet rules vary by casino. These are the rules used for the game and every number on this page: 6 decks, dealer hits soft 17, up to 4 hands.
| Rule | What it means |
|---|---|
| Free doubles | On a hard 9, 10 or 11 you double for free: the casino adds the extra bet. If the hand wins, you are paid on both; if it loses, you lose only your own bet. |
| Free splits | Every pair except tens splits for free, and pairs can be re-split up to 4 hands. Aces split once and get one card each. Tens can be split for real money. |
| Dealer 22 pushes | When the dealer finishes on exactly 22, every hand still in play is a push. Your blackjack is still paid 3:2. |
| Blackjack pays | 3:2. The dealer checks for blackjack with an ace or ten showing. |
There are no free bets here
The free doubles and splits are paid for by one rule: a dealer 22 pushes. The dealer finishes on 22 in 7.35% of rounds, and those hands would otherwise have been wins.
How the strategy changes
- Take every free double and free split the chart offers.
- Because a dealer 22 is a push, the chart hits some stiff hands it would stand on in classic blackjack, for example hard 12 against a 4 and hard 13 against a 2.
- The full chart for these rules is below the game; the cell for your decision is outlined while you play.
How the numbers are worked out
An exact calculation over the cards in the shoe, checked by an independent simulator of our own over 4 billion rounds (within its margin of error). Split hands are treated as independent.
